About

WVU launched its varsity competitive esports program in October 2021, growing from a student-run gaming club into a university-supported program with multiple nationally competitive teams, dozens of scholarship student-athletes, and a national championship title to its name. The program stands out for its all-encompassing approach: built around championship competition, a trailblazing undergraduate Esports Business and Entertainment degree, and a community for all gamers to develop the skills needed for careers in the industry. WVU has also taken a leading role in growing esports statewide, hosting the West Virginia Scholastic Esports League championships and connecting high school competitors with scholarship and career opportunities.
