The University of Minnesota's esports program is built around an inclusive mission: to advance esports by fostering a diverse and accessible gaming community where students of all skill levels can thrive, while developing the future leaders of the industry. Launched in 2017, the program has continued to grow, with student-athletes competing across three game titles and a new lab featuring 20 gaming PCs, three console setups, and a dedicated coaching and practice workspace. In 2025, Minnesota joined the Power Esports Conference, bringing its Big Ten cachet and institutional momentum to one of collegiate esports' most prestigious leagues and competing on multiple fronts against the nation's best programs.
