About
The Michigan State University varsity esports program launched in the 2023–24 academic year, fielding teams in Rocket League, Valorant, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and quickly established itself as a competitive force upon joining the Big Esports Conference. The program recently leveled up with the opening of two dedicated esports spaces on campus: the Alienware Esports Lounge — only the second of its kind in the country — and the Hubbard Hall Esports Competition Lounge. Housed within the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, the program goes beyond competition, giving students real opportunities to build portfolios in broadcast media, graphic design, and marketing — a holistic model that has already produced PEC national championship hardware in Valorant and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
