What started as a student organization in 2017 through the Oso Esports Club evolved into a new chapter of Baylor athletic history when the university officially launched its varsity esports program in fall 2025 — a fully sanctioned program designed to blend community, technology, and competitive excellence under a green and gold banner. Baylor competes in the elite Power Esports Conference, a scheduling alliance among top-tier FBS institutions giving Division I schools the opportunity to face similarly sized and resourced opponents. In its very first season, the Rocket League team went a perfect 20-0 through PEC competition and claimed the conference championship at the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas — one of the most impressive debut seasons in collegiate esports history.
